Step into the golden age of film with Contemporary Perspectives on Classic Cinema, a film series presented by Eastern New Mexico University–Ruidoso exploring influential movies from the 1920s through the 1960s.

This installment features the 1951 western Westward the Women, directed by William A. Wellman and starring Robert Taylor, Denise Darcel, Hope Emerson, and John McIntire. The film follows trail guide Buck Wyatt as he leads a caravan of more than 100 mail-order brides across the American frontier from Chicago to California, where they hope to build new lives with settlers in the West.

After the screening, guests are invited to stay for a conversation reflecting on the film’s themes and historical context.
