The National Championship Air Races return to New Mexico September 16–20, 2026, bringing five days of high-speed air racing, aerobatic performances, military demonstrations, aircraft displays, aviation exhibits, and family-friendly activities to Roswell Air Center.
Known as the world’s fastest motorsport, the event puts aircraft head-to-head on high-speed race courses, with some competitors reaching speeds of more than 500 mph. The 2026 races feature all seven competition classes: Jet, Formula 1, Biplane, T-6, Sport, Unlimited, and STOL Drag.
This year also marks the Roswell debut of the Unlimited Class, bringing heavily modified World War II-era piston-powered aircraft back to National Championship competition.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds headline the 2026 airshow program, bringing their signature precision formation flying and high-speed F-16 demonstrations to the New Mexico skies.
