Catch three days of collegiate golf in the mountains as the High Country College Golf Championship returns to Ruidoso and Alto for its 37th consecutive year.

Approximately 160 men’s and women’s college golfers from New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Kansas, and Oklahoma will compete at two of the area’s golf courses, bringing some of the region’s top collegiate talent to the Sacramento Mountains.

Spectators are welcome and admission is free.

Tournament Schedule

Sunday, September 20 — Practice Rounds

Women’s teams take to Alto Lakes Golf & Country Club for practice rounds, while the men prepare for competition at The Links at Sierra Blanca.

Monday, September 21 — Championship Play

Women compete over 18 holes at Alto Lakes Golf & Country Club. Men play 36 holes at The Links at Sierra Blanca.

Tuesday, September 22 — Championship Play

The tournament concludes with another 18 holes for the women at Alto Lakes and 18 holes for the men at The Links.

The championship field includes college programs from across the region, including New Mexico Junior College, New Mexico Military Institute, Eastern Arizona College, Mesa Community College, South Mountain Community College, Mesalands Community College, Garden City Community College, Murray State College, North Central Texas College, Weatherford College, Ranger College, Western Texas College, Midland College, and Odessa College.

Over its long history, the tournament has welcomed players from around the world, with past participants going on to professional golf careers and competition at some of the sport’s highest levels.

Whether you follow college golf or simply want to spend part of a September day outdoors in the mountains, the High Country College Golf Championship offers a chance to watch talented young golfers compete against a distinctly Ruidoso backdrop.
